Train a Comin', released by the small Winter Harvest label in January 1995, is Steve Earle's all-acoustic comeback record — cut after his 1994 drug arrest and subsequent recovery, with the singer-songwriter reaching openly into the bluegrass and old-time circles his early work had only flirted with. Peter Rowan plays guitar, mandolin, and mandola; Norman Blake contributes guitar, dobro, and fiddle; Roy Huskey Jr. handles acoustic bass; Emmylou Harris adds vocals on two tracks. The result sounded like a late-night Nashville pickin' party — instruments in the same room, no electricity — and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Album. USA Today named it the country album of the year.
