"Wanderlust," released in 1999 on Copper Creek Records (CCCD-0171), is the debut album of Tucson, Arizona singer and guitarist Chris Brashear, produced by mandolinist and singer Jody Stecher. Recorded at The Cavern Studio in Tucson and Bay Records in San Francisco, the album features Stecher alongside Laurie Lewis (vocals), Peter McLaughlin (guitar), and other collaborators in a traditional bluegrass framework drawing from the Bill Monroe and Ralph Stanley schools. The project directly spawned the band Perfect Strangers, formed from the core of the Wanderlust personnel. Critically well-received on release, the album introduced Brashear as a thoughtful vocalist and songwriter in the West Coast bluegrass tradition that Stecher and Lewis had cultivated for more than a decade.
