Essential Norman Blake Songs

A guitar legend's songwriting catalog

9 songs

Norman Blake is a Tennessee guitarist and songwriter who has worked at the edges of bluegrass and old-time for sixty years — playing on Bob Dylan and Joan Baez records, contributing to the “O Brother, Where Art Thou” soundtrack, writing some of bluegrass’s most-covered modern songs. “Last Train From Poor Valley” became a standard. “Ginseng Sullivan,” “Church Street Blues,” and “Slow Train Through Georgia” carry the same close-to-the-ground voice. “Green Light on the Southern” and “Ridge Road Gravel” round out the writing. Nine songs in the catalog.

Each song’s page on Picker’s Guide has chord charts, lyrics, recordings, and song history.
