“Cowboy” Jack Clement was an American songwriter, producer, and engineer.
- Born April 5, 1931 in Whitehaven, Tennessee.
- Was an engineer and producer at Sun Records, where he discovered Jerry Lee Lewis and worked on Johnny Cash sessions.
- Wrote the Johnny Cash hits “Ballad of a Teenage Queen” and “Guess Things Happen That Way.”
- Produced records for Charley Pride, Townes Van Zandt, Waylon Jennings, and many others.
- Was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013, the year he died.
