Country Johnny Mathis
“Country” Johnny Mathis was an American country singer and songwriter.
- Born in 1930 in Maud, Texas, he adopted the name “Country” to distinguish himself from the pop singer Johnny Mathis.
- Was half of the duo Jimmy and Johnny, which had the 1954 hit “If You Don't, Somebody Else Will.”
- Was a prolific songwriter whose songs were recorded by George Jones, Tammy Wynette, and others.
- Later became an evangelist. He died in 2011.
