A Dream Come True cover

A Dream Come True

Album · 1990 · Rebel Records

A Dream Come True was Rhonda Vincent's second solo album for Rebel Records, released in 1990 (REB-1682). It followed her 1988 Rebel debut and marked a more pronounced turn toward bluegrass, recorded in Nashville with a roster of established session players. The personnel included David Grier on guitar, Jerry Douglas on dobro, Blaine Sprouse on fiddle, Richard Bailey and John Hartford on banjo, and Roy Huskey Jr. and Vincent's brother Darrin Vincent on bass, with Darrin also contributing vocals. Harmony and supporting vocals came from Kathy Chiavola, Carl Jackson, David Parmley, and Jim Ed Brown.

The twelve-track set drew on songwriters including Carl Jackson and Marshall Wilborn and featured a reading of Nanci Griffith's "Goin' Gone." AllMusic notes that the bluegrass sound was more in evidence here, with the picking and singing built around Vincent's own work. The album dates from her early Rebel tenure, before her later moves to country and then to Rounder.
