A Gospel Bluegrass Homecoming: Volume One was released by Gaither Music Group in 2003, on CD (SHD2459) and as a DVD (SHDVD4492). Bill Gaither presented and produced it, and Marty Stuart hosted it and served as music director.
The 22 tracks are divided among a wide field of bluegrass and gospel performers. Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives open with “This Little Light of Mine,” followed by Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, the Nashville Bluegrass Band, the Gaither Vocal Band, and Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys. Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, the Isaacs, Marty Raybon, the Lewis Family and Del McCoury each have tracks of their own. Stuart appears with Stuart Duncan on “Lee Highway Blues” and with Skaggs and McCoury on “Bluegrass Breakdown.” The set closes with “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, McCoury, Raybon and Stuart.
