Album · 1962 · Starday SLP 205

A Treasury of Rare Song Gems from the Past is a 1962 LP by the Blue Sky Boys on Starday Records (SLP 205), released in November 1962. It collects radio recordings by the brothers Bill Bolick, who plays mandolin and sings tenor, and Earl Bolick, who plays guitar and sings lead. Among the songs are “The Sunny Side of Life,” “As Long as I Live,” “Mary of the Wild Moor,” “Get Along Home,” “Row Us Over the Tide,” “Dust on the Bible” and “Turn Your Radio On,” and the instrumentals “Golden Slippers,” “Tugboat” and “Black Mountain Blues.”

The brothers had stopped performing in 1951, when Bill took a job as a postal clerk and Earl went to work at Lockheed. After Starday issued this LP, they decided to reunite, and they recorded two albums of new material for the label, Together Again (1963) and Precious Moments (1964).
