American Legacies is a 2011 collaborative album by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the Del McCoury Band released on McCoury Music (MCM 0015), recorded at the Chapel in San Francisco in July 2010. Del McCoury (guitar, vocals), Ronnie McCoury (mandolin), Robbie McCoury (banjo), Jason Carter (fiddle), and Alan Bartram (bass) meet the jazz band's Ben Jaffe (tuba), Freddie Lonzo (trombone), Mark Braud (trumpet), Charlie Gabriel (clarinet), Rickie Monie (piano), and Joe Lastie (drums) in a marriage of two parallel American traditions—New Orleans jazz and Appalachian bluegrass—that share deep common ground in blues tonality and improvisation. The pairing grew from McCoury's appearance on the jazz band's 2010 benefit album.
