An Old Love Affair

Bob Paisley and the Southern Grass

Album · 1982 · Brandywine 1001

An Old Love Affair (Brandywine Records 1001) is a studio album from Bob Paisley and the Southern Grass, the Virginia and Maryland bluegrass ensemble that Paisley led through multiple configurations while building a regional reputation through his partnership with Ted Lundy. Paisley plays guitar and sings lead; Danny Paisley plays guitar and sings; Mike Paisley plays guitar; Joe Allison contributes instrumental work; Leroy Mumma plays banjo; and Randy Stewart holds the bass. The family-centered lineup reflects the Paisley ensemble's characteristic structure, with Bob's son Danny already taking on vocal responsibility that would later make him one of traditional bluegrass's most admired lead singers. The Brandywine label documented the Southern Grass at an early phase of the ensemble's development as an independent recording act.
