Steve Ivey's Best of Bluegrass Gospel, released on Madacy Christian Music (THF2 50447) in 2004, is a Nashville-produced bluegrass gospel studio album bearing Ivey's name as artist, producer, and primary instrumentalist—not a various-artists compilation despite its title. Ivey plays vocals, acoustic guitar, and dobro; Jesse Lee Campbell contributes lead vocals; Andy Leftwich, mandolin; and Jan Michielsen—a Belgian mandolinist known in European acoustic music circles—plays on additional tracks. The instruments of catalog-listed Jeff Van Gool and Jesse Wells are unconfirmed. Madacy, a Canadian budget-label operation, issued the album in multiple configurations for Christian bookstore and mainstream retail markets. The project operates within Nashville's prolific bluegrass gospel commercial pipeline through Ivey's IMI production house.
