Blue Ridge Cabin Home, released by County Records in 1978 (CCS 102), is a compilation drawn from Flatt and Scruggs's classic 1950s Columbia sessions — tracks recorded at Castle Studio and Bradley's Nashville rooms with the Foggy Mountain Boys lineup of Curly Seckler on mandolin, Paul Warren on fiddle, and Josh Graves on dobro. The title track is one of the duo's signature songs, and the selections lean toward the bluegrass standards that defined the band's earliest commercial peak. County, the small Virginia label run by Dave Freeman, had built its name on careful reissues of vintage material; this LP belongs to that program, preserving the Flatt and Scruggs working sound of the decade before they became television's bluegrass.
