Bluegrass Favorites Vol. 2 cover

Bluegrass Favorites Vol. 2

Earl Taylor and His Stoney Mountain Boys

Album · 1971 · Rural Rhythm RRTM 242

Bluegrass Favorites Vol. 2 (Rural Rhythm RRTM 242) is a compilation from the Rural Rhythm Records catalog assembling traditional bluegrass performances from Earl Taylor, Jim McCall, Harley Gabbard, and additional performers drawn from the label's Kentucky-rooted recording archive. Taylor plays mandolin and sings; McCall sings; Gabbard plays dobro; Brian Wicklund and Tim Spradlin contribute additional instrumental and vocal work. Rural Rhythm's catalog of Kentucky-area traditional bluegrass performers gave the label material for multiple compilation series, and this volume presents a sustained program of traditional material that documents the direct, unvarnished bluegrass sound that the label's artists delivered consistently across their recording careers on the Rural Rhythm roster.
