Bluegrass Reunion (Acoustic Disc ACD 4, 1992) is a studio album produced by David Grisman, recorded at his Dawg Studios in Mill Valley, California, from 27 to 29 May 1991. It reunites Grisman with Harley “Red” Allen, the guitarist and singer who gave Grisman his first job as a mandolin player. Grisman had played in Allen’s Kentuckians in the 1960s and produced two of Allen’s County albums, in 1965 and 1966. On this record Allen plays guitar and sings lead on most tracks, with Grisman on mandolin and baritone vocals, Herb Pedersen on banjo and tenor vocals, Jim Buchanan on fiddle and Jim Kerwin on bass.

Jerry Garcia joins on three tracks. He sings lead and plays lead guitar on “The Fields Have Turned Brown,” with Allen on harmony; sings lead on “Ashes of Love,” again with Allen on harmony; and plays lead guitar on “Is This My Destiny?” The repertoire includes “I’m Blue, I’m Lonesome,” credited to Monroe and Williams, Monroe’s “Letter from My Darlin’,” Carter Stanley’s “The Fields Have Turned Brown” and “Will You Miss Me When I’m Gone?,” credited to A. P. Carter. Buchanan sings lead on “To Love and Live Together,” and Pedersen leads “Little Maggie.”

The session is thought to have been Allen’s last. He died on 3 April 1993 and was inducted into the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in 2005, whose biography calls the album a Grammy-nominated Grisman collection. A deluxe edition with added material was released as a download in 2016 and on CD in 2018.
