Bright Morning Stars is a 2011 album by the Wailin' Jennys released on Red House Records, the third studio album from the Winnipeg-based trio of Ruth Moody (guitar, banjo, vocals), Nicky Mehta (guitar, vocals), and Heather Masse (bass, vocals). Produced by Tucker Martine and recorded in Portland, Oregon, it continues the group's hallmark of sparse acoustic arrangements and three-part harmonies refined to a near-architectural precision. The repertoire draws on folk, gospel, and Appalachian balladry—including the title track, a traditional spiritual—alongside original material from each member. It followed the group's celebrated live album Firecracker (2006) and marked a step toward a warmer, more textured studio sound without sacrificing the close-vocal intimacy that defines the trio.
