Brothers From Different Mothers, released March 31, 2009 on Rounder (11661-0617-2), is Dailey and Vincent's sophomore album and the record that swept the 2009 IBMA Awards — Entertainer, Vocal Group, Album of the Year, and Gospel Recorded Performance for "On the Other Side" — only two years into the duo's partnership. Jamie Dailey (lead vocals/guitar) and Darrin Vincent (vocals/bass/mandolin) had left Doyle Lawson's and Rhonda Vincent's bands in 2007 to launch the act; this record cemented its dominance. The lineup adds Jeff Parker on mandolin, Joe Dean on banjo, and Adam Haynes on fiddle, with guests Harold Reid of the Statler Brothers, Ron Block, Bryan Sutton, Stuart Duncan, Andy Leftwich, and a studio string quartet on a set mixing hard-driving secular bluegrass with Southern-gospel quartet singing.
