Christmas Grass (Audium Records AUD-CD 8162) is a studio holiday album from Ricky Skaggs, the Cordell, Kentucky-born multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who became one of country and bluegrass music's most commercially successful artists. Skaggs plays mandolin and sings; Cody Kilby plays guitar; Darrin Vincent plays bass and sings; and Molly Skaggs — Ricky's daughter — sings throughout. The album presents Christmas material through the bluegrass and country gospel framework that anchors Skaggs' performing identity, extending the devotional sensibility that runs through his entire career to the seasonal repertoire. Audium Records, a Nashville independent label, released the project as a holiday statement from one of the genre's most respected performing families, combining the close-harmony and acoustic string-band sound Skaggs had championed since his early 1980s commercial breakthrough.
