Circles Around Me is a 2009 album by Sam Bush, the Bowling Green, Kentucky mandolinist and singer who was a founding member of New Grass Revival. Bush's mandolin style synthesized Jethro Burns's jazz fluency, Bill Monroe's rhythmic attack, and a rock-inflected improvisatory energy that was wholly his own, and by 2009 he was a certified institution. The album is characteristic Bush: alive, generous, technically superb, and rooted in a tradition he never stopped studying even as he spent a career pushing past its conventional boundaries.
