Cotton Farmer cover

"Cotton Farmer," released in 1980 on Old Homestead Records (OHS-90119), is a posthumous recording by Charlie Moore and the Dixie Partners, drawn from sessions taped January 13, 1979 at Old Homestead's studio in Brighton, Michigan. Moore — a revered bluegrass vocalist and bandleader who died in December 1979 — is joined by Curley Lambert (mandolin, vocals) and Dana Cupp (guitar, dobro), two longtime Dixie Partners regulars whose presence recalls Moore's sustained creative partnership with the band across the 1970s. The album was assembled and released by Old Homestead after Moore's death as part of a series of archival releases from his final recording period, preserving his smooth tenor and natural gift for country-leaning traditional narrative song.
