"Follow Your Heart," released in 1998 on Rebel Records (REB-CD 1749), is Chris Jones's second Rebel album, produced at Lighthouse Sound Studio by Darrin Vincent. The album features Aubrey Haynie (fiddle), Ron Block (banjo), Paul Brewster (vocals), Ron Stewart (fiddle, banjo), and Vincent on bass — an assembly of contemporary bluegrass talent supporting a set that blends originals, including the title track co-written with Harley Allen, with Stanley Brothers repertoire and gospel material. Critics praised Jones's mellow, expressive singing and his balance of country warmth with bluegrass drive. By the time of this record, his reputation as one of bluegrass's most thoughtful and undersung vocalists was firmly established among listeners on both sides of the Atlantic.
