Grandpa Jones Remembers the Brown’s Ferry Four is an all-gospel album that Louis Marshall “Grandpa” Jones recorded for Monument Records in Nashville and which was released in 1966. The Brown’s Ferry Four was a gospel quartet formed at WLW in Cincinnati by Merle Travis, Jones, and Alton and Rabon Delmore; it recorded 44 songs for King Records in the late 1940s and early 1950s, with Red Foley, Red Turner and Clyde Moody filling in when one of the originals could not be there.

For this record Jones brought back one of those partners. The sessions were held on 8 December 1965 at the Fred Foster Sound Studio, in two three-hour blocks, with Fred Foster producing. Jones played banjo and guitar and sang; Merle Travis played guitar and sang; Jerry Byrd played guitar; Red Rector played mandolin and sang; and Ramona Jones, Grandpa’s wife, sang tenor. The eleven songs include “On the Jericho Road,” “Turn Your Radio On,” “Keep on the Firing Line,” “Gone Home,” “No Tears in Heaven,” “Empty Mansion” and “The Glory Land Way.” Monument issued it in stereo (SLP 18041) and mono (MLP 8041). Jones was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1978.
