Hardcore Bluegrass in the Dawg House collects sixteen tracks by Del McCoury and David Grisman, released in June 2012 by Acoustic Disc. Eleven of the sixteen had not been issued before. According to the label’s announcement, the recordings come from two jam sessions at Grisman’s Dawg studio in 1992 and 1999, with McCoury on guitar and vocals and Grisman on mandolin, joined by McCoury’s sons Ronnie (vocals and mandolin) and Rob (banjo), Jason Carter on fiddle and Mike Bub on bass. It was released as a download through AcousticOasis.com, the digital arm of Grisman’s Acoustic Disc label.

The program includes “John Henry,” “Walkin’ the Dawg,” “Highway of Regret,” “The Hit Parade of Love,” “The Tennessee Waltz,” “Country Boy Rock and Roll” and “20/20 Vision.” McCoury and Grisman had known each other for about fifty years by then; they met at a McCoury appearance with Bill Monroe, and their first show together came two years later at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
