House Down the Block, released in 2005 on Rebel (REB-CD 1798), is the Kenny and Amanda Smith Band's Rebel debut, following the band's 2003 IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year win. Kenny Smith plays guitar and sings, Amanda Smith sings lead, with guests including Ronnie Bowman, Steve Huber on banjo, Ron Inscore, Greg Martin, and Becky Buller. The repertoire is stylistically wide-ranging — driving bluegrass on "Big Ball in Boston," western swing in Bob Wills's "Stay a Little Longer," country balladry in the title cut — all anchored by Amanda Smith's lead voice. Songwriting comes from Tim Stafford and Kenny Smith. The record introduced the band to a national audience after their years of regional Virginia work and Kenny Smith's prior tenure with the Lonesome River Band.
