I Believe in the Old Time Way (Rebel Records REB-CS 1708) is a studio album from the Mullins family, the Ohio-based traditional performers who carried the old-time and bluegrass heritage through a musical household rooted in the same Appalachian culture the music emerged from. Paul Mullins plays fiddle and sings; Joe Mullins plays banjo and sings; Mark Rader and Mike Clevenger contribute additional instrumental and vocal work. Paul Mullins, one of the most admired traditional Ohio-area fiddlers of his generation, anchors the program in an old-time sensibility that Rebel Records — the foremost independent label in traditional Virginia and Appalachian music — was well positioned to document. Joe Mullins would later build his own ensemble reputation through the Radio Ramblers.
