Ice Cold Stone cover

Ice Cold Stone is a 1992 album by the Gillis Brothers released on Hay Holler Records (HHH 302), recorded April 13–16, 1992, at Doobie Shea Studios in Ferrum, Virginia. John Gillis (guitar, lead vocals) and Larry Gillis (banjo, vocals) are a Virginia brother duo rooted in hard-driving traditional bluegrass, joined on this debut by Owen Saunders (fiddle) and Andy Dye (bass). The fourteen-track program mixes gospel standards ("You'd Better Get Right," "Harbor of Love," "Rock Bottom") with original and secular material, all delivered with the unadorned, high-and-lonesome sound of the Virginia mountains. The Gillises went on to record additional sessions for Hay Holler and later Rebel Records, establishing themselves as a durable presence on the Virginia and West Virginia traditional circuit.
