James (self-released, 2010) is the second studio album from Red Molly, the three-part harmony trio of Abbie Gardner on resonator guitar, Carolann Solebello, and Laurie MacAllister. The album reached number four on the Americana radio charts and represents the national breakout moment for a band that had built its following steadily through the northeastern and festival circuits. Jake Armerding and Mike Weatherly contribute instrumental support alongside the core trio. Named for Gardner's father, the record blends original material with carefully chosen covers unified by the trio's close, bright harmonies and a sensibility that fuses old-time, folk, and country singing traditions into a contemporary acoustic sound. It remains the recording most associated with the original Red Molly lineup.
