Lester 'n' Mac, originally released in 1971 on RCA Victor (LSP-4547) and reissued on UK Stetson (HAT 3064), is the first of three RCA Flatt-and-Wiseman pairings, recorded March 1971 at RCA Studio B in Nashville and produced by Bob Ferguson with Jack Clement. Lester Flatt and Mac Wiseman share lead vocals and guitar with Josh Graves on Dobro, Roland White on mandolin, Haskell McCormick on banjo, Cousin Jake Tullock on bass, Paul Warren and Howdy Forrester on fiddle, and Vic Jordan adding banjo. The straight-down-the-middle bluegrass arrangements feature tight duet singing throughout. The album reunited the two former Foggy Mountain Boys two decades after Wiseman's brief 1949 stint as Flatt and Scruggs's first lead singer, before he left to launch his solo career.
