Listen to My Hammer Ring (Rebel C-1750, 1998) is the debut solo album of Ralph Stanley II, son of Dr. Ralph Stanley, recorded at Maggard Studios in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, in late 1997 and spring 1998. Ralph Stanley II (lead vocals, lead guitar) fronts the Clinch Mountain Boys lineup of the late 1990s — Jack Cooke (bass, baritone vocals), James Allen Shelton (rhythm guitar), John Rigsby (mandolin, fiddle), James Price (fiddle), and Steve Sparkman (banjo) — with Ralph Stanley Sr. contributing tenor harmony on several tracks. The Rebel C catalog prefix denotes a simultaneous cassette release alongside the CD edition. The album blends Stanley-family classics with newer material, establishing the younger Stanley as a capable tradition-bearer in his own right.
