“Choo Choo Comin’” — also heard as “I Hear a Choo Choo Coming” — is a bluegrass train-and-heartbreak song. An early recording by the Flat Mountain Boys appeared in 1957, and the Stanley Brothers recorded their version in 1959. The train here is the familiar one of so many country songs: not romance or escape but loss, the locomotive carrying the singer’s sweetheart away.
