Lost Boy cover

Lost Boy, released in 1996 on Rounder, is Bruce Molsky's first Rounder release and the record that broke him out nationally as an old-time fiddler. Molsky, a Bronx-born engineer who had spent years playing Mount Airy fiddlers' conventions on the side before old-time music became his full-time work, self-produced the spare, archival-feeling set. He plays fiddle, banjo, guitar, and sings, with Dirk Powell on fretless banjo, banjo, and guitar, Audrey Molsky on guitar, and Carla Gover on vocals. The repertoire is Appalachian tunes and ballads in unaccompanied or duo settings, lean enough to feel like a Library of Congress field recording. Lost Boy established the template Molsky has worked variations on ever since.
