Lost Boy was released by Rounder Records in 1996 (Rounder CD 0361) and was Bruce Molsky’s first album for the label. Molsky, who became absorbed in old-time music while studying engineering at Cornell and visited the fiddler Tommy Jarrell in North Carolina in 1976, produced it himself and plays fiddle, banjo and guitar and sings. Dirk Powell plays fretless banjo, banjo and guitar, Audrey Molsky plays guitar, and Carla Gover sings. Ronnie Freeland recorded and mixed it at Big Mo Recording Studios, and Molsky and Paul Brown wrote the liner notes.
The twenty tracks include “Wild Bill Jones,” “The Blackest Crow,” the title track “Lost Boy,” “Sail Away Ladies,” “8th of January,” “Buffalo Girls” and “Arkansas Traveler.”
