Me 'N Ole Pete, released in 1978 on Gusto (GT 0067), is Jimmy Martin's hard-driving Sunny Mountain Boys statement of the late-Decca-into-Gusto era, recorded at Gusto Studios in Nashville. Martin sings lead and plays guitar with Chris Warner on banjo, Blaine Sprouse on fiddle, Robbie Blake on mandolin, and Roy Huskey Jr. on bass, with Lisa Martin singing lead on one cut and Gloria Belle adding vocals. The set runs through high-lonesome Martin in late-career form — hunting-dog ballads alongside murder ballads like "Knoxville Girl." The title concept honors Martin's beloved coon hound Pete; Tom T. Hall wrote "Pete, the Best Coon Dog in the State of Tennessee" specifically for the project, cementing Martin's hunting-dog mythos on record. The 2026 catalog date is a data error.
