Mountain Soul II (Saguaro Road 3190, 2009) is the direct sequel to Patty Loveless's acclaimed Mountain Soul (Epic, 2001), her return to the Appalachian acoustic sound of her Kentucky roots. Produced by her husband Emory Gordy Jr. (bass), the album features Bryan Sutton (guitar, banjo, mandolin), Ronnie McCoury (mandolin), Mike Auldridge (dobro), and Deanie Richardson (fiddle), with guest turns from Jason Carter, Stuart Duncan, Rob Ickes, Carl Jackson, Del McCoury, Vince Gill, and Emmylou Harris. Where the 2001 album introduced the concept, Mountain Soul II deepens it across bluegrass, country gospel, and Appalachian folk. It won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album at the 53rd Grammy Awards in February 2011.
