No Other Way (Skaggs Family SKFR 2008, 2002) was Mountain Heart's first album for Ricky Skaggs's Skaggs Family Records, produced by Skaggs at his Skaggs Place Studios. The lineup features founding members Steve Gulley (guitar, vocals), Barry Abernathy (banjo), and Jim VanCleve (fiddle), with the return of Adam Steffey (mandolin) and Jason Moore (bass) making his first full album appearance. Guest contributors include Vince Gill, Rob Ickes (dobro), and Kenny Malone (percussion). The album earned IBMA nominations for Album of the Year and Entertainer of the Year, establishing Mountain Heart as a marquee name in contemporary bluegrass at the outset of the Skaggs Family relationship that would anchor their most celebrated work.
