One More Time Before You Go: A Tribute to Tony Rice (North Star) is a memorial tribute album honoring Tony Rice, the Danville, Virginia guitarist whose flatpicking technique and musical vision redefined the role of the acoustic guitar in bluegrass and folk music and whose death in December 2020 prompted an outpouring of recorded tributes from performers his work had most deeply shaped. Dan Tyminski plays mandolin and sings; Molly Tuttle plays guitar and sings; and Gaven Largent contributes additional guitar work. The program draws from Rice's recorded catalog — the David Grisman Quintet collaborations, the Tony Rice Unit recordings, the solo bluegrass albums on Rounder, and the vocal material that proved his gifts extended beyond pure instrumental virtuosity — presenting the repertoire in performances that acknowledge a direct debt to his example.
