Rural Rhythm Presents Hylo Brown is a Hylo Brown album released on Rural Rhythm RRHB-168 around 1966, showcasing the powerful tenor voice and bluegrass sensibility of Thomas "Hylo" Brown in the label's characteristically straightforward, unadorned format. Rural Rhythm, a budget-oriented California imprint that recorded many mid-level bluegrass and country acts, issued Brown's recordings in simple packaging that nonetheless preserved performances of considerable quality. Brown, who had previously recorded for Capitol and worked alongside Flatt and Scruggs, brought genuine stylistic authority to every session. The album compiles a representative cross-section of Brown's repertoire — traditional pieces, gospel numbers, and country originals — delivered with the high, clear tenor that made him one of bluegrass's most distinctive vocal talents.
