Scene It All was released by Sugar Hill on 16 May 2000 (SHC 3899). The band was Dudley Connell, Lou Reid on mandolin, Ben Eldridge on banjo, Fred Travers on dobro, and Ronnie Simpkins on bass, with Connell, Reid and Travers singing on all but one of the twelve tracks.
The songs come from many corners of popular music. Bob Dylan wrote “Boots of Spanish Leather,” Bruce Springsteen “One Step Up,” and Chuck Berry “Nadine.” Jim and Jesse McReynolds are credited with “I Will Always Be Waiting for You,” Bonnie Guitar with “From This Moment On,” and Webb Pierce, with a co-writer, with “Walking the Dog.” Carl Jackson, Bill Graham and Alan Laney are credited with “When the Walls Come Tumblin’ Down.” Only Connell and Reid sing on “Blue and Lonesome”; every other track adds Travers.
