Scenechronized, released by Sugar Hill in 2007, is a late-period Seldom Scene record and a good example of what the band had always done best: taking songs from well outside bluegrass and making them sound as though they had never lived anywhere else.
The thirteen tracks run from Steve Earle's "Hometown Blues" to John Fogerty, Merle Haggard, Bob Dylan and the Carter-era "Katie Dear." The line-up is the long-serving one - Dudley Connell on guitar, Lou Reid on mandolin, Fred Travers on dobro, Ben Eldridge on banjo and Ronnie Simpkins on bass, with Chris Eldridge guesting on guitar - four of them singing, which is the other thing this band was always known for.
It was one of several records the band made for Sugar Hill in that period, and it shows a group comfortable in its own long history, choosing material the way it always had — for the song first.
