Second Generation Bluegrass cover

Second Generation Bluegrass, recorded in the early 1970s when both artists were teenagers, documents a collaboration between Keith Whitley and Ricky Skaggs that stands as a remarkable early chapter in both musicians' careers. The two young Kentuckians had absorbed the Stanley Brothers' vocal style so thoroughly that Carter Stanley himself reportedly was moved by their fidelity to the sound. Whitley, who would later achieve mainstream country fame before his death in 1989, and Skaggs, who would become a Grammy-winning force in both bluegrass and country, are heard here in their purest traditional mode.
