Side by Side (Sugar Hill SUG-CD 3981) was released on 27 January 2004. It is the third album by BlueRidge, after Common Ground (1999) and Come Along with Me (2002), which was credited to Baucom, Bibey & BlueRidge. The band here was Junior Sisk on guitar, Alan Bibey on mandolin, Joey Cox on banjo, Alan Johnson on fiddle and Eddie Biggerstaff on bass. It was recorded at Eastwood Recording Studio in Cana, Virginia, produced by the band and Wes Easter, who also engineered, with liner notes by Jon Weisberger.
Sisk sings lead on most of the thirteen songs. Bibey leads on his own title song, “Side by Side,” and on Elmer Burchett’s “Do What You Want to Do,” and Biggerstaff leads on Wesley Golding’s “Back to Cana.” “Avalanche,” also by Bibey, is an instrumental, and “Land of Light” is sung a cappella. The set includes Jesse Winchester’s “Brand New Tennessee Waltz,” “Sailing with the Master” by David Johnson, and “Before the Sun Goes Down.” Bibey left BlueRidge in 2006 to form Grasstowne with Steve Gulley and Phil Leadbetter.
