Sings Everybody's Country Favorites documents the Stanley Brothers venturing into the broader country repertoire, a side of their recording activity less often emphasized than their foundational bluegrass and gospel work. Carter and Ralph Stanley had grown up in the same listening culture as the country music audience, and their interpretations of familiar country material carried authentic regional feeling. The Dickenson County, Virginia brothers recorded prolifically for Starday and King throughout the 1950s and early 1960s, producing a body of work so varied in repertoire and approach that no single album tells the whole story.
