Sister Sadie II, the second album by Sister Sadie, was released on Pinecastle Records (PRC 1223) on 24 August 2018. The group is Dale Ann Bradley, Tina Adair, Gena Britt, Deanie Richardson and Beth Lawrence, who came together as a band after a sold-out show at Nashville’s Station Inn. The album was recorded at Digital Underground Studios in Nashville, with Scott Vestal credited as engineer, mixer and mastering engineer and the band as producer.
Britt plays banjo, Richardson fiddle and Lawrence bass throughout. The Bluegrass Discography credits Bradley on guitar and Adair on mandolin on five tracks, Adair on guitar on six, and neither on “900 Miles.” Lead singing is shared among Adair (“Losing You Blues,” the lead single, which she wrote with Doug Bartlett; “Jay Hugh”; “900 Miles”; “Love Has No Pride”), Bradley (“No Smoky Mountains,” “I’m Not a Candle in the Wind,” “Since I Laid My Burden Down,” “Morning Sky”) and Britt (“Something to Lose,” “It’s You Again”). “Raleigh’s Ride,” written by Britt, is an instrumental.
The album debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums chart for the week of 15 September 2018 and was one of five nominees for Best Bluegrass Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
