Spread Your Wings cover

The Gibson Brothers' Spread Your Wings, released on Hay Holler Records (HH-CD 1335) in 1997, is the New York duo's third album and the closing chapter of their independent regional period before Ricky Skaggs's patronage brought them national attention. Eric Gibson plays banjo and sings; Leigh Gibson, guitar and vocals; Junior Barber, dobro; Mike Barber, bass; and Aubrey Haynie—a first-call Nashville session fiddler—fiddle and mandolin. Haynie's presence marks an early sign of the brothers' rising connections beyond their regional base. Later reissued on Bluewater Records, the album captures the Gibson Brothers at the moment just before the Skaggs endorsement and the Sugar Hill years that established them as a nationally recognized act.
