Stanley Series, Vol. 2, No. 3, part of Copper Creek's long-running archival Stanley Series, documents a July 8, 1956 performance at Shipp's Park in Morrisville, Virginia, when the Stanley Brothers were touring the southern park-and-school circuit with Chubby Anthony on fiddle. The set ranges across material that never reached the brothers' studio sessions — Rovin' Gambler, Katy Hill, Boil Them Cabbage Down, Roll in My Sweet Baby's Arms, Wait a Little Longer Please Jesus — captured in clean amateur audio that holds up better than most live tapes of the era. Like the rest of the Series, it preserves the working-band Stanleys of the late 1950s in a way no contemporary studio LP could.
