Stay Awhile is a 1995 Rounder Records album (CD 0334) by Jody Stecher and Kate Brislin, a Bay Area duo whose work drew on old-time string music, early country, traditional folk, and original songs in those idioms. Stecher — a multi-instrumentalist (mandolin, banjo, guitar) who had played bluegrass with David Grisman and Sandy Rothman and studied Hindustani raga with Ali Akbar Khan — and Brislin — a guitarist and vocalist who co-founded the all-female Any Old Time String Band in the 1970s and performed with Hazel Dickens, Mike Seeger, and Alice Gerrard — first met in 1974 and recorded five Rounder albums together. Stay Awhile documents their mature partnership, presenting the warm, intimate acoustic sound and close harmonies that characterized their collaborative work across three decades.
