Kate Brislin
Kate Brislin is a San Francisco-based singer and guitarist whose old-time and bluegrass duo with husband Jody Stecher — two Grammy nominations for Best Traditional Folk Album — made them one of the preeminent traditional country duet acts of the 1990s.
- San Francisco-based guitarist and singer with deep roots in old-time and bluegrass music.
- Joined the Arkansas Sheiks in 1974, one of the Bay Area's leading old-time bands; recorded "Whiskey Before Breakfast" (Bay, 1975).
- Co-founded the Any Old Time String Band with Suzy Thompson, Valerie Mindel, and Genny Haley; released two albums.
- Performed in the Blue Flame Stringband with Suzy and Eric Thompson and Alan Senauke.
- Met Jody Stecher in 1974, began performing as a duo in 1985, and married him on July 29, 1987.
- Two albums with Stecher were Grammy finalists for Best Traditional Folk Album: "Our Town" (1993) and "Heart Songs: The Old Time Country Songs of Utah Phillips" (1998).
