Our Town is a duo album by Jody Stecher and Kate Brislin, released by Rounder in 1993 (Rounder CD 0304). The two perform it alone: Stecher sings and plays guitar, mandolin and fiddle and produced the record, and Brislin sings and plays guitar and banjo.
The thirteen tracks include “Going to the West,” “Old Country Stomp,” “In Between Dreams,” “Too Late, Too Late,” “The Bramble and the Rose,” the title song “Our Town,” “Twilight Is Stealing,” “Curtains of Night,” “Henry and the True Machine” and, last, “Won’t You Come and Sing for Me.” Two of the tracks are medleys, pairing “The Showerhead Reel” with “The Twisted Arm” and “Queen of the Earth and Child of the Stars” with “Roving On, Lass.”
Stecher and Brislin had performed together as a duo since 1985 and married in 1987. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Traditional Folk Album category.
