String Theory is a 2016 album released by We Banjo 3 on their Wb3 Records imprint (WB3CD 004), the quartet's fourth studio release. Brothers Enda Scahill (banjo, mandolin, vocals), Fergal Scahill (fiddle, guitar, percussion), David Howley (banjo, guitar, mandolin, vocals), and Martin Howley (banjo, mandolin, vocals) bring in guests including Alison Brown (banjo) for an album that debuted at number one on both the Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart and the Billboard World Music chart—reportedly the first independent Irish band to top the latter. In the same year the group performed at the Friends of Ireland luncheon honoring President Obama and Taoiseach Enda Kenny, reflecting their remarkable transatlantic profile.
