The Traditional Grass

Album · 1993 · Rebel REB-CS 1718

10th Anniversary Collection was released in 1993 by Rebel Records as REB-CS 1718, with a CD edition numbered REB-CD-1718. It marks ten years of The Traditional Grass, the Ohio band that Joe Mullins started in 1983 with his father, the fiddler Paul Mullins. All sixteen tracks were recorded in June 1993 at Rivertracks Studio in Louisa, Kentucky.

The band on the session was Mark Rader on guitar, Joe Mullins on banjo, Gerald Evans Jr. on mandolin and fiddle, Paul Mullins on fiddle and Mike Clevenger on bass. Rader, Mullins and Evans share the vocals, and the songs include “You Are My Flower,” credited to A. P. Carter, “Back to Hancock County” by Pete Gobel and Leroy Drumm, and “She Has Forgotten” by Karl Davis and Harty Taylor. On “Rough Edges,” written by Randall Hylton, Joe Mullins sings lead, and the band is Rader on guitar, Mullins on banjo, Evans on mandolin and fiddle, and Clevenger on bass.

The Traditional Grass recorded four albums for Rebel between 1992 and 1995.
