Thank You Lord is a 1976 gospel album by Larry Sparks and the Lonesome Ramblers that communicates a devotional sincerity that goes beyond genre convention. Bluegrass gospel has always been one of the music's central strands — Bill Monroe recorded hymns from the beginning, and the Stanley Brothers made some of their most powerful music in a sacred context — and Sparks fits squarely in that lineage. His voice, coarse-edged and fervent, carries gospel material with an urgency that the smoother, more polished singers of the era could not replicate. The Lonesome Ramblers provide lean, uncluttered accompaniment, keeping the focus on the vocal.
