Thank You Lord was released by Larry Sparks and the Lonesome Ramblers on Old Homestead in 1976 (OHS 90060). It was recorded in Brighton, Michigan, in 1971 or 1972, at Bill Carpenter’s studio and in the same period as the group’s album Bluegrass Old and New. Three of its twelve tracks, “Thank You Lord,” “King Jesus (Call Him by His Name)” and “Where We’ll Never Say Farewell,” also appear on that 1972 album.

Most of the songs are gospel, among them “I’ve Just Seen the Rock of Ages,” “Traveling the Highway Home,” “Jacob’s Vision,” “God Shall Wipe Away All Tears” and “I’ll Meet You in the Morning.” “You’re Drifting Away” is credited to Bill Monroe. Sparks sings lead and plays guitar, with Mike Lilly on banjo, Wendy Miller on mandolin and Art Wydner on bass. Miller sings tenor, Lilly baritone and Tony Stubbs the bass part.
