The Blues — Mountain Style (Kiamichi Records KMB 108, 1979) is a studio album from Bill Grant, Delia Bell, and the Kiamichi Mountain Boys, the southeastern Oklahoma ensemble that built a substantial following among traditional bluegrass fans through a series of self-released recordings on the Kiamichi label across the 1970s. Grant plays mandolin and sings; Bell plays guitar and sings lead; Ben Bonham plays banjo; Orville Bonham plays fiddle; Glen Bonham holds the bass; and Virgil Bonham plays lead guitar. The album draws from the bluegrass and string-band tradition that Grant and Bell had absorbed in the Kiamichi Mountain region of southeastern Oklahoma, blending their close vocal harmony with the Bonham family's instrumental ensemble in a program rooted in traditional material. Grant and Bell's subsequent career arc — earning a Grammy nomination for their Rounder-released recordings in the 1980s — brought wider attention to the deep traditional foundation their Kiamichi label work had established.
